We had an incredibly spectacular trip to Yellowstone Park this week end. We experienced an amazing close up view of 3 beautiful cougars standing in the middle of the road! We were absolutely surprised and I think they were too as the car lights shone on them. We could hardly believe what we were seeing- they were so beautiful, powerful and agile and of course the long tail was unmistakable. It was so exciting.
We also saw 3 grizzly bears, 30 wolves from 2 packs, 1 fox, 25 coyotes, 2 eagles, several deer and hundreds of elk and bison.
It has been a wonderful weekend in Yellowstone Park. The snow was beautiful and the sunshine was enjoyed too. We enjoyed all the wonderful wildlife. Hundreds of elk and bison, a few deer, about 3 dozen mountain sheep, 13 healthy looking coyote, an eagle, and a beautiful gray owl. We had fun viewing 3 grizzly bears and 20 wolves- 16 black and 4 gray.
Yellowstone Park had great animal viewing opportunities this weekend. We viewed a total of 42 wolves from the Agate pack, Slough creek pack and Oxbow pack. Two grizzly bears, two black bears and hundreds of elk and bison were fun to see.
With a few inches of snow Yellowstone National Park was transformed into a winter wonderland this weekend. The animals are active. The bull elk are majestic and there is still rivalry among them keeping the cows together. We saw a beautiful gray owl, one large and healthy grizzly bear, one fox, 14 coyotes, 8 wolves, a few sheep and lots of bison. A funny sight to see was a young bison frolicking in the snow and chasing a cow elk around the trees.
