The fall colors of yellows, oranges and reds are still vibrant in many areas In Yellowstone Park but with some trees fading and losing their leaves. There is a dusting of snow on Mt. Washburn and the high peaks in the Park. We had quite a snowstorm at Dunraven. We saw a moose along the Madison, three black bears near Roosevelt. A lone gray wolf was howling at Antelope Creek- a pup left behind by the Agate pack. We saw mountain sheep, 5 coyotes, deer and 12 wolves, hundreds of bison. Eight bull elk in Mammoth put on great show with their bugling and chasing each other. On Friday we arrived at Tower just a few minutes after a young woman of 32 from California had fallen 400 feet over the cliff. Sad and tragic accident.
Fall is in Yellowstone National Park with cooler but pleasant temperatures, bugling elk and the vibrant yellows, oranges and reds of the underbrush and quaking aspens. We viewed 2 grizzly bears, 3 black bears and 27 wolves. The deer and antelope are more visible and there are hundreds and hundreds of bison.
Our weekend in Yellowstone Park was also enjoyed by our cute and smart 7 year old granddaughter. The weekend was beautiful and warm. We saw coyotes, a fox and 7 wolves. A grizzly bear, bugling elk, a few deer, antelope and hundreds of bison made a spectacular weekend.
Fall is in the air in Yellowstone National Park with the beautiful yellows of the aspens, oranges and reds in the underbrush. The elk are majestic as their bugling echoes along the Madison River and throughout the park. We were excited to view 38 wolves from four different packs and hear their howling too. A couple of moose, 2 black bears and 2 grizzly bears rounded out the weekend, Of course we saw hundreds of bison, lots of elk and a few deer and antelope and even a brief, light snowstorm.
Our early morning drive to Yellowstone Park was highlighted with a meteor shower. We enjoyed 3 days in the park watching the wolves of the Agate and Hayden pack - 18 total. One grizzly bear, 1 black bear and 2 moose. The elk are bugling and we saw a majestic swayback that we have been watching along the Madison for 4 years.
